Hole # 2 - Dayne Hahn - PGA Head Golf Professional
Owatonna Country Club has several key holes in order to score well, but it all starts with #2. It is the number 1 handicapped hole on the golf course and has a completely different feel than #1. From the tee it looks and feels like you have all the room in the world because the fairway huge, but with OB on the right and the native area running up the left that drops off drastically, it will change your mind the first time you wind up in a precarious scenario. Choosing the correct club off the tee is essential, especially if the wind is blowing out of the North. Having a downhill lie on your second shot is not ideal and it makes hitting your approach a difficult task. With trees on both sides, the pond short right of the green, the large greenside bunker, and the native grass that grows behind the green, it can seem like a tall task to nuzzle one up close. This is all without mentioning the 50-foot elevation drop from the 150 yard marker to the green. A Par here will almost always feel like a Birdie.
